A cyclist’s paradise: One of the region’s most beautiful cycle routes (the Ostuferradweg) starts in Obertraun, running right along the lakeshore, along the edge of the cliffs and across romantic suspension bridges. As there are no cars in this area, cycling here is pure relaxation.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage List: Obertraun and the northern part of the Dachstein massif, together with Hallstatt, form the UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape. This recognition is due to the region’s unique geomorphology and its culture, which dates back thousands of years.
A tip for guests at the Seerose Obertraun: Discover the hidden corners!
If you’re looking for a bit of solitude and a genuine, picture-postcard idyll, do visit the Obertrauner Koppenwinkel nature reserve. The sight of the tiny, emerald-green karst lake (Koppenwinkelsee) on the outskirts of the village, with cows grazing around it, is like a classic Austrian folk tale coming to life. A gentle afternoon stroll here is the perfect way to recharge your spirits.
